Total Home installed 21 windows, a patio door, and a front door for us, and they did a great job. Vitaly offered a fair price and a high-quality product. The installation headed by Eugene and Said went smooth. Highly recommended.

Replacing doors in your home costs between $700 and $10,000+ in Ontario depending on door types, material choices, and installation requirements. A standard steel front door installation ranges from $2,000 to $5,500, while premium fiberglass models reach $3,000 to $11,000 installed. The overall cost includes the door itself, door frame components, hardware, and labor costs for professional installation.
Total Home Windows & Doors has been replacing doors across the GTA since 2007 — that’s 19+ years of hands-on experience in Ontario’s climate and housing stock. We’ve installed doors for over 28,000 homeowners in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Oakville, and throughout the Golden Horseshoe. The prices on this page are based on our actual 2026 project quotes, not national averages. Every figure reflects current Ontario material costs, GTA labour rates, and the freeze-thaw cycles and wind loads specific to the Canadian climate. Our team includes licensed installers who work exclusively in the Ontario market. We manufacture our own door lines at our Ontario facility — no middleman markup.

Several variables beyond base pricing determine your final investment. Understanding these elements helps you plan budgets accurately.
Steel doors remain popular options for Ontario homes due to their durability and security features. These exterior door choices won’t warp or rot when exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them ideal for locations facing Canadian winters. Total Home manufactures steel doors with 40% more insulation than standard models, addressing energy efficiency concerns whilst maintaining affordable pricing.
Fiberglass doors cost a bit pricier upfront but deliver authentic wood-grain textures that suit homeowners seeking premium aesthetics. The material resists dents better than steel and requires minimal maintenance throughout its extended lifespan. Many high-value properties choose fiberglass for the entryway to create impressive first impressions.
Aluminum doors deliver exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, enabling slim frame profiles that maximize glass area for modern aesthetics. The material resists corrosion naturally, performing well in humid climates without rusting. Thermally-broken aluminum frames include insulating barriers that prevent heat transfer, achieving energy efficiency comparable to other materials. Powder-coat finishes resist fading and require minimal maintenance throughout decades of use.
Vinyl doors offer superior thermal performance through multi-chamber construction that creates insulating air pockets within frame profiles. The material won’t rot, warp, or require painting, delivering maintenance-free performance for 25-30 years. Modern vinyl formulations resist UV degradation that plagued earlier products.
Choosing between steel and fiberglass is the most common decision Ontario homeowners face when replacing a front door. Both materials handle our freeze-thaw climate well — neither warps, rots, or cracks. The difference comes down to budget, aesthetics, and long-term maintenance.
| Feature | Steel Entry Doors | Fiberglass Entry Doors |
|---|---|---|
| Base Cost | $1,500 – $3,000 | $2,500 – $5,000 |
| With Sidelights | $3,000 – $5,000 | $4,500 – $8,000 |
| With Transom | $3,500 – $6,000 | $5,500 – $10,000 |
| Durability | 30+ years | 40+ years |
| Maintenance | Low (may dent) | Very Low (won't dent) |
| Energy Efficiency | R-value: 10-15 | R-value: 12-18 |
| Paint/Stain | Paintable | Paintable/Stainable |
| Best For | Budget-conscious, high security | Premium look, low maintenance |
A single door in standard dimensions (36″ × 80″) establishes baseline pricing. Wider openings, double-door configurations, or custom sizes increase costs significantly:
The door opening dimensions you’re working with may require structural changes to accommodate larger configurations. Installing double doors where a single door existed requires widening the doorway and reinforcing the door frame—adding complexity to the job and increasing installation costs.
For most Ontario homeowners, a steel door with sidelights in the $3,000–$5,000 installed range delivers the best balance of security, insulation, and value. For higher-value properties in areas like Oakville, Forest Hill, or Leaside, fiberglass in the $4,500–$8,000 range is worth the premium.
Total Home offers both through our Ontario manufacturing facility, with lifetime warranties on frames and workmanship.
Patio door replacement costs in Ontario range from $2,200 to $11,000 installed, depending on door type, size, and material. Sliding patio doors are the most affordable option; bifold and multi-panel systems are at the premium end. In the GTA, expect labour rates 10–15% higher than rural Ontario.
The table below shows 2026 pricing for all configurations we install:
| Patio Door Type | Size Range | Price Range (Materials) | Installed Cost | Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sliding Patio Doors | 6' – 12' wide | $1,800 – $4,000 | $2,200 – $5,000 | Space-saving, easy operation |
| Garden Doors | 5' – 6' wide | $3,500 – $4,500 | $4,200 – $5,500 | Inswing, French-style |
| Bifold Patio Doors | 8' – 16' wide | $4,500 – $9,000 | $5,500 – $11,000 | Maximum opening, modern |
| Tilt & Turn Patio | 6' – 8' wide | $3,200 – $6,000 | $4,000 – $7,200 | European style, versatile |
Glass panels serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. Decorative glass options range from simple bevels to intricate leaded designs, adding $300 to $1,500 to door cost. These treatments enhance curb appeal but don’t improve thermal performance.
| Glazing Feature | Cost Addition | Energy Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Low-E Coating | +$150 – $300 | 30-50% heat reduction |
| Argon Gas Fill | +$100 – $200 | 15% better insulation |
| Triple-Pane Glass | +$400 – $800 | R-value increase of 50% |
| Decorative Glass | +$300 – $1,500 | Aesthetic only |
| Privacy/Frosted | +$200 – $500 | No energy impact |
ENERGY STAR™ certified glass packages combine Low-E coatings with argon fills, meeting stringent performance standards for Canadian climate zones. These upgrades pay back through reduced energy bills whilst qualifying for government rebate programmes.
The door handle, lock mechanisms, and hinges affect both security and daily operation. Basic hardware comes standard, but upgrades add $100 to $600:
Total Home’s Total Seal system includes integrated lock points positioned 3 inches from top corners—the weakest point on traditional doors. This multi-point mechanism distributes stress whilst creating an airtight seal that prevents air infiltration. The Roto Corner Drive reinforces these vulnerable areas with additional security layers.
Professional installation represents significant value despite adding to upfront costs. The installation process typically requires 3-8 hours depending on door complexity:
| Service Type | Labor Costs | Time Required |
|---|---|---|
| Standard entry door install | $300 – $600 | 3-5 hours |
| Entry with sidelights | $500 – $900 | 4-6 hours |
| Double door install | $600 – $1,200 | 5-8 hours |
| Patio door install | $400 – $800 | 4-6 hours |
| Old door removal | $100 – $300 | 1-2 hours |
| Door frame repair | $200 – $600 | 2-4 hours |
Proper installation ensures correct alignment, weathersealing, and operation that DIY attempts often miss. A door just 1/8 inch out of level won’t seal properly, creating drafts that waste energy year-round. The higher cost of professional installation pays back through improved performance and warranty protection.
The existing door removal and disposal adds $100-$300 unless included in your installation quote. Professional installers know proper disposal methods and include this service, whilst DIY approaches leave homeowners dealing with waste management facilities.
Deciding between replacing your current door or repairing it requires evaluating condition, age, and performance issues.
Energy efficiency improvements alone justify door replacement in many cases. Older doors lack the insulation values, Low-E glass, and weathersealing that modern products provide. Upgrading to ENERGY STAR™ certified doors reduces heating and cooling costs by approximately 15%—savings that accumulate year after year.

Return on investment for entry door replacement ranges from 70-90% according to Canadian renovation data. A $4,000 door project adds $2,800-$3,600 to property value whilst improving daily comfort and security. Few renovations deliver comparable returns.
Strategic planning reduces door replacement costs whilst maintaining performance:
Manufacturers produce common dimensions in volume, achieving economies of scale that custom orders can’t match. If your opening accommodates standard sizing with minor door frame modifications, this approach costs less.
Replacing patio doors alongside exterior door installations gives contractors efficiency advantages they pass along through reduced per-door pricing.
Check promotional periods for seasonal offers. Fall and winter often deliver best values as manufacturers reduce inventory.
White, brown, and black suit most homes whilst avoiding custom finish fees that add cost without necessarily improving property value.
A well-insulated steel door with standard glass provides excellent security and energy efficiency at lower cost than decorative models with premium aesthetics but similar performance.

Total Home installed 21 windows, a patio door, and a front door for us, and they did a great job. Vitaly offered a fair price and a high-quality product. The installation headed by Eugene and Said went smooth. Highly recommended.

An easy 5 star review for the Total Home Team. The quote, the timing, the efficiency, the communication, the window installation itself all went as planned. Nazar and the other installer were professional and quick. We only had budgeted for 5 windows and a door cut out and will use them again for the front door and windows, when the pocketbook allows.<br>We are very happy with our investment and the TH team.

Im very happy with my purchase of 10 windows from this company. The office was helpful in talking me thru my options and troubleshooting some design limitations. While i initially was disappointed that the installer could not provide larger sills on the wooden trim, in the end i am very happy with the updated look these windows give my home - inside and out!<br>Installers - Valery and Andre- worked consistently and politely thru completion. - an 11 hr and gruellingly hot day. - they left my home spotless. I am very happy with my double hung windows - i hope they last me a lifetime.

Nazar and his team exceeded my expectations. I fully recommend this team and company for ANY window or door renovation. They expanded my window and made a walk out for me that should have happened before I purchased this home. This is a dream come true.

We are completely happy with our new exterior door, windows and garage door, as supplied and installed by Total Home.<br>Our project manager Eugene was excellent from day 1 through completion, explaining everything clearly, always responding same day to questions. He provided us references of other projects in our community - these families were all very happy, years later, with their installations and each said the best part of their experience with Total Home was the top notch service they received. We feel exactly the same. Every aspect of the project (Eugene) and the installations (Nazar) were excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend Total Home, Eugene and Nazar, and in fact we hope to have them back for future work.

Had a great experience with my new glass unit installation at Total Home and Windows and Doors! Ended up super happy with the results.<br><br>For better privacy at home I opted to change from my clear glass to frosted. The installation was a quick and simple process.

Sales man Daniel was professional, courteous and honest. He gave us a very good price for our front door replacement. Dimitry and his installation team did a neat job and respected our privacy.<br>Our new Front door looks very nice

Total Home did a solid work, they replaced my windows and front Door, the quality and design are superb and The installers were quick, professional and cleaned up after themselves. Highly Recommended for general window replacement.

Eugene, Saïd, Bogdan, Andrew, and Dima did a great job. The crew was polite, on time, and the quality of their work is positively noticeable. Thumbs up Total Home.

What a beauty!! Thank you to Anatoliy Gadzevych and his team, Nazar & Maksym, at Total Home Windows and Doors for this beautiful fibreglass door! Installation was done well and so fast! I’m so happy! We were told the door will be done in the spring but it came so much faster! I’m one happy customer. Highly recommend this company! 😃

Bumped up from 2 stars to 4 stars because of our sales rep Alex who took care of the matter.<br>_______________________________________________________________<br>We replaced a total of 7 windows, with one positioned at a height of 16ft. Some windows had marks. The installer told me it wasn't scratches and could be cleaned with a paper towel. However, the mark on the 16ft-high window is too noticeable, and we can't reach it ourselves, requiring high altitude equipment. We don’t mind to clean the other 6 windows by ourselves, but just the one at 16ft high. The installer could clean it in 10 seconds, but now, the 10-second task needs to be done by a cleaning service, which starting at a minimum of $250 for just one 16 ft window!!!!!<br><br>Secondly, after all the windows were installed, the installer was doing the final cleaning, clearing the small wood chips and dust on the floor. It's the 21st century, and I don't understand why a professional window company didn't use an industrial vacuum cleaner instead of a broom. The wood debris and dust were only around the windows area, but the installer roughly and quickly swept with the broom, spreading dust throughout the entire house. A considerable amount of dust floated around, and we had to leave the house for several hours before returning to clean. If the installer had used a vacuum cleaner, it wouldn't have generated such a large amount of dust in the entire house.<br><br>Finally, we don't mind and already told the installer which washroom that they can use. However, the issue arose after the installer completed their installation and removed the dirty cloth from the floor, but then returned to use washroom with dirty shoes that they had walked into our backyard, carrying a lot of mud on their shoes. With the matter of the case, it should never happened as a professional company.

5-star experience with Vitaly from first meeting to the end of the project. We had our home windows replaced. Every aspect of the job was professional, up-front, clear, and all promises delivered! Installer Vasgen was also top in every way. I highly recommend Total!

I’ve decided to change some windows in my house, but also the glassing door of my balcony, as it got so squeaky.<br>So I searched on the internet to see different offers and compare them.<br>When I came across Total Home website, I found exactly what I am looking for. I contacted them, and they came just the day after. I explained to them what I wanted precisely, and they were paying attention to every detail, they suggested some interesting ideas, and gave me a detailed quote at the end.<br>The installation didn’t take that long, and the team was very professional and meticulous. I am very satisfied with the final result and would definitely recommend it.

Top notch Services with Total Home replacing 3 of my Windows in matter of hours and took care of cleaning the debris before living.<br>👏

We did shop around and ended up with three estimates several months ago when contemplating the purchase of new windows. Eugene made the choice to go with Total Home Windows and Doors a very easy one. He guided me through the endless choices with knowledge and patience until we came up with a perfect solution that is not only energy efficient, esthetically very pleasing, but also fell within our budget. Yesterday, Valerii and his amazing crew replaced 5 standard windows, a huge picture window in the living room, the back patio door, as well as our front door and screen door. They were all very courteous and professional. They worked so efficiently and left the house clean and tidy both inside and out. Val took the time to show me how all the different windows mechanisms worked and how easily cleaning them would now be. They did a fantastic job. I couldn't be happier. The house looks amazing! Thanks, guys!!

F<br>ast service. Beautiful windows. Thank you Alex and Vlad you made the experience great.

Entry door costs in Ontario range from $1,500 to $5,000 for materials, with total installed costs between $2,000 and $5,500. Steel doors offer the best value and are typically cheaper than fiberglass options, whilst fiberglass provides premium aesthetics in various styles. Total Home manufactures doors locally with 40% more insulation than standard models for better energy efficiency. Understanding these key factors helps you make an informed decision about which material suits your budget and performance needs.
Steel entry doors last 30+ years, fiberglass doors endure 40+ years, and vinyl patio doors provide 25-30 years of service. Interior doors typically last 20-30 years depending on material quality and usage. Proper maintenance and professional installation extend longevity whilst preventing costly mistakes that shorten door lifespan. Total Home’s lifetime warranty on frames and workmanship protects your investment for as long as you own your property.
Most door replacements don’t require permits in Ontario if you’re maintaining the same size and structural opening. Permits may be necessary when changing door dimensions, adding sidelights or transoms that allow more light into your entryway, or altering framing that affects the floor structure. Professional installers ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code requirements for insulation, fire safety, and structural integrity whilst avoiding regulatory issues.
Professional door installation costs vary based on complexity and location. Entry doors cost $300-$600 for installation, doors with sidelights run $500-$900, and patio doors range $400-$800. Labour rates vary based on your specific location within Ontario, with urban areas commanding premium pricing. Total Home includes installation in quoted prices and offers turnkey service covering removal, installation, cleanup, and disposal for budget friendly project planning.
ENERGY STAR™ certified doors reduce heating and cooling costs by approximately 15%, saving $200-$400 annually on energy bills. Enhanced security features and superior insulation improve home comfort whilst qualifying for government rebates. Total Home’s Total Seal system delivers measurable returns within 5-7 years through reduced energy consumption. Glass panels with Low-E coatings allow natural light whilst blocking heat transfer—combining energy efficiency with bright, welcoming interiors.
Professional quotes include door materials, hardware, installation labour, weatherstripping, removal of old doors, frame adjustment, and cleanup. Total Home provides turnkey service from consultation through final inspection, with transparent pricing and no hidden fees. Timeline typically runs 4-6 weeks from order to installation. Understanding what’s included helps you make an informed decision when comparing contractors and avoiding costly mistakes from incomplete quotes.
DIY door installation risks include improper alignment, air leakage, voided warranties, and building code violations. Professional installation ensures proper sealing, enhanced security, and optimal performance. Incorrectly installed doors compromise energy efficiency and safety, potentially costing more in repairs than professional installation would have cost initially. The security enhancements from proper installation—including correctly positioned multi-point locks—cannot be replicated through amateur work.
Steel doors cost $1,500-$5,000 installed, offering excellent security enhancements and affordability in various styles from traditional to modern. Fiberglass doors range from $2,500-$10,000, providing authentic wood-grain aesthetics without maintenance demands. Total Home engineers both materials with enhanced insulation that exceeds industry standards. Steel suits budget friendly buyers prioritising security; fiberglass appeals to homeowners seeking premium appearance with minimal upkeep.
Key factors affecting price include custom sizes, double-door configurations, sidelights, transoms, decorative glass, smart lock systems, and non-standard colours. Complex installations requiring frame modification or structural work affecting the floor or surrounding walls add labour expenses. Glass panels that provide privacy whilst admitting light cost more than solid panels. Toronto and GTA locations see 10-20% higher costs than rural Ontario areas due to labour rates.
Not always. Some quotes exclude removal and disposal ($100-$300), creating costly mistakes for homeowners who assumed these services were included. Total Home’s turnkey service includes old door removal, disposal, and site cleanup as standard. Always confirm what’s included before signing contracts. Professional removal prevents damage to walls, floor surfaces, and door frames whilst ensuring proper disposal of old materials.
Standard timelines run 4-6 weeks from order to installation, accounting for manufacturing and scheduling. Total Home offers rush orders completed in 1-2 weeks for smaller projects requiring quick turnaround. Custom configurations in various styles may extend timelines depending on complexity. Installation day typically requires 3-8 hours depending on door type and configuration. Planning around these timelines helps you make an informed decision about project scheduling.
Entry door replacement delivers 70-90% return on investment at resale. Modern, energy-efficient doors with enhanced security features enhance curb appeal, reduce energy costs, and improve home protection. French doors with glass panels provide privacy whilst allowing natural light to brighten interior spaces—features that buyers value. Properties with updated entry doors sell faster and command higher prices than comparable homes with dated doors showing wear.
In Toronto and the GTA, front door replacement typically runs 10–20% above provincial averages due to higher labour rates. A steel entry door costs $2,200–$6,000 installed; fiberglass ranges from $3,200–$12,000. Most Toronto homeowners spend $3,500–$5,500 for a quality steel door with sidelights, including installation and removal of the old door.
Yes. The Canada Greener Homes Grant and Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate programs offer rebates for ENERGY STAR certified exterior doors. Eligible Ontario homeowners may receive up to $250 per door unit. Total Home installs ENERGY STAR certified doors and can advise you on rebate eligibility during your free consultation.
A standard single steel entry door starts around $2,000 installed. To keep costs down: choose a standard 36″ x 80″ size, a stock colour (white, black, or brown), and basic hardware. Our entry-level steel doors include full insulation and multi-point locking — no compromise on energy performance.
Repair works for minor issues: worn weatherstripping, loose hinges, sticky latch. Replace when you notice: drafts around the frame, visible rust or rot, difficulty locking, condensation between glass panes, or a door older than 20 years. A quick test: hold a lit candle near the door edges on a windy day — if the flame flickers, your door is leaking air. We offer free in-home assessments across the GTA to help you decide.
Looks better. Costs the same
