Explore Your Window Styles and Types

Choosing the right window style matters more than many homeowners realise. Each type serves different purposes, offers distinct ventilation benefits, and affects how your home looks and functions. We’ll help you match the perfect windows to your rooms and your lifestyle.

Choose the Right Frame Material for Your Climate

Your window material determines thermal performance, maintenance requirements, lifespan, and exterior appearance. Total Home Windows manufactures vinyl replacement windows and supplies quality aluminium options, each serving different priorities and budgets.

Vinyl Windows: Affordable, Efficient, and Low-Maintenance

Vinyl windows are the most popular choice in Ontario for their low cost and zero-maintenance upkeep. We offer two lines: Classic and UltraSlim series.

Classic Series

Proven 3¼″ frame depth designed for reliable performance in retrofit and replacement projects.

UltraSlim Series

Modern minimalist design with an ultra-thin, sleek window frame that maximizes glass area and natural light.

Aluminium Windows for
Clean Lines and Modern Architecture

Aluminum windows suit contemporary builds and commercial projects. We carry profile systems in 86 mm, 79 mm, 70 mm, and 45 mm widths to match different structural and design requirements.

Extruded Aluminum Mastery

A 3-chamber system with two component central gasket seals provides excellent insulation for the space between the vent and the frame.

Extruded aluminum technology transforms window design through the 86mm profile system, creating panels that represent the pinnacle of opening engineering. This sophisticated system showcases how aluminum windows mean more than just a structural element—they’re a finishing touch of architectural precision. The powder-coated surfaces come in carefully crafted shapes, offering aesthetic appeal and exceptional thermal performance.

Innovative Design Language

This system is ideal for fixed, tilt, tilt&turn and tilt&slide windows.

The 79 mm profile system demonstrates the true potential of extruded aluminum and embodies how aluminum windows mean cutting-edge engineering. Its powder-coated panels create a uniform opening design that balances aesthetic sophistication with technical excellence. The finishing touch of carefully considered shapes transforms functional windows into architectural statements.

Performance Redefined

A triple gasket in the 70 mm system increases thermal insulation: external and internal with EPDM and central with foamed EPDM.

Extruded aluminum technology reaches new heights in the 70mm profile system, where functional opening design meets artistic expression. The powder-coated panels provide a finishing touch beyond mere functionality, creating windows that are both a performance tool and a design element. Carefully crafted shapes demonstrate how aluminium windows means innovation and style.

Minimalist Architectural Expression

The system with an installation depth of 45 mm allows alignment (flush) surfaces to be obtained.

The 45mm profile system represents the essence of extruded aluminum’s potential, where minimal form meets maximum functionality. These windows showcase how aluminum windows mean creating visually light and structurally sound openings. Powder-coated panels provide a finishing touch that transforms architectural spaces with carefully considered shapes and painted surfaces.

Insulated Glass Units and Energy Efficiency Standards

All our windows are ENERGY STAR™ certified and built with sealed insulated glass units rated for Ontario’s climate zone. Look for an ER (Energy Rating) of 34 or higher and a low U-Factor for the best results. Here are the energy efficient options we offer:

Double-Pane Windows for Balanced Performance and Value

Double-pane windows feature two glass layers separated by spacer material and filled with insulating gas. Double-pane windows work well for most Ontario homes and applications. They reduce heat transfer compared to older windows and help maintain consistent interior temperatures throughout seasons.

Triple-Pane Windows for Maximum Insulation and Quiet Comfort

Triple-pane glass represents the premium insulation choice, featuring three glass layers that provide superior insulation benefits. Triple-pane windows excel in Toronto’s extreme climate where winter cold and summer humidity create demanding conditions. The additional glass layer creates superior thermal barriers that keep heat inside during winter.

Low-E Coated Windows for Year-Round Energy Management

Low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings are microscopically thin metallic layers applied to glass surfaces that reflect infrared heat. In winter, Low-E coated windows reflect interior heat back inside, reducing heating demands significantly. During summer, they reflect solar heat away, reducing air conditioning loads throughout the entire home.

Argon Gas-Filled Windows for Superior Thermal Insulation

Argon gas fills the spaces between glass panes, providing better insulation than standard air throughout seasons. Argon gas-filled windows slow heat transfer more effectively than air alone, complementing triple-pane designs. The dense gas molecules move less freely than air particles, creating superior thermal barriers throughout your home.

Installation Types: Which One Fits Your Project?

The installation process depends on the condition of your existing window frame and what your home needs. We handle all three methods.

Brick-to-Brick Installation

The full replacement. We remove everything — frame, trim, brickmould — down to the rough opening. This method is best when existing window frames are rotted, warped, or damaged. It also lets you change the window size or shape if local building codes allow it. Costs more but gives you a clean, long-lasting result.

Stud-to-Stud Installation

Similar to brick-to-brick, but we cut back to the wall studs. This is common in newer homes with wood or vinyl siding where accessing the studs is straightforward. It allows for a full-size replacement window and proper insulation around the frame.

Retrofit Window Replacement

The fastest and most affordable option. We fit new windows into the existing window frame, so there’s no disruption to your interior trim or exterior cladding. Retrofit window replacement works well when the old frame is still square and structurally sound.

Customisation Options

Thousands of custom colours available

Select Your Perfect Frame Colour

Whether you prefer classic whites, blacks, warm tans, or bold contemporary hues, your frame colour sets the visual tone for how your windows integrate with your home’s architecture and surrounding landscape beautifully.

Privacy Glass

Frosted or textured glass panes block the view from outside while still letting natural light flow through — ideal for bathrooms.

Energy Efficiency

Boost your home’s energy efficiency with a Low-E coating that reflects infrared heat, argon gas between the panes for slower heat transfer, and a double- or triple-pane IGU. Triple pane glass delivers up to 50% better insulation than double pane — a smart pick for Ontario winters and lower energy bills.

Enhanced Protection

Safety & Security Glass

Upgrade to tempered glass, which is four times stronger than standard glass and shatters into blunt pebbles instead of sharp shards. For ground-floor windows or areas where security is a concern, choose laminated glass — two panes bonded with a tough interlayer that holds together on impact, deterring break-ins.

Multiple Styles Available

Interior Grills

Flat bars mounted between the glass panes give a traditional divided-lite look without affecting cleaning or window coverings.

Grills Types: 1” Flat
Design Details

Rosettes

Decorative corner pieces that sit where grill bars meet, adding a period-style detail to colonial or heritage grid patterns.

Interior Trim Options

Brickmould

Factory-applied exterior trim that frames the window against brick or stone. Choose from flat, rounded, or stepped profiles.
